"Our new Storm Shield™ panels were severely tested during Hurricane Bonnie, and I'm pleased to report that they protected our house well. In fact, judging from the noise of debris hitting the house during the storm and the residue on the panels after the storm, I'd say they prevented penetration of flying debris...Peggy and I would like to thank both of you and your staff for your professional and friendly service."

Peggy and Bob Wyatt, Caswell Beach, NC

Widely known as the "Invisible System," Storm Shields Systems™ literally can't be seen when not in use. And unlike wood and aluminum alternatives, Storm Shield Systems™ will not rot, rust, crack, peel, or compromise the architectural beauty of your home or business. Stainless steel inserts are installed into the window trim to receive the thumbturns used to hold the interlocking panels in place. When not in use, the inserts are hidden with plugs that are flush to the trim. Even from just a few feet away, the system is invisible to the naked eye.

Storm Shield Systems™ panels are precision-cut and customized for each opening. The interlocking panels prevent damage that is often not covered by insurance. The panels can be installed on all types of building materials, including brick, aluminum, vinyl, wood and stucco. Special applications, such as arched and bay windows, entries, palladian windows and sliding doors can easily be accommodated.

Storm Shield
Systems™ require no maintenance contract because the material is impenetrable by water or salt. All materials are guaranteed for 10 years.

Perma Clear
™ Systems

Perma Clear™ is the crystal-clear storm shield alternative. This transparent material is 300 times stronger than glass and can remain affixed to your windows throughout the entire hurricane season. Perma Clear ™ is UV retardant, which not only protects your furniture, draperies or office equipment from the sun’s damaging rays, but also insures the system will not discolor or yellow. An anti-abrasive element protects Perma Clear™ from imperfections caused by flying debris and preserves this invisible system’s transparent finish for years to come. Perma Clear™ is a truly “invisible” shield that is the perfect solution for hard-to-reach windows, specialty windows such as stained glass or any aperture that requires a fixed, protective barrier. When combined with standard Storm Shield panels, Perma Clear™ creates a view panel that allows you to view storm conditions from the safety of your home. As with all Storm Shield Systems, Perma Clear™ panels are lightweight, waterproof and custom-cut for each window.

Cleaning and Maintenance Instructions
Proper cleaning procedures and use of chemically compatible cleaners are important in maintaining sheet performance.

Cleaning Procedures

1. Wash sheet with a mild soap or detergent and lukewarm water. (See list compatible cleaning agents below.)
2. Using a soft cloth or sponge, gently wash the sheet to loosen dirt and grime. DO NOT SCRUB.
3. Rinse well with clear water.
4. Dry thoroughly with a chamois or cellulose to prevent water spotting.

Note: A squeegee can be used ONLY on the initial pass over the window surface that is “dripping” wet. A soft cloth or sponge should be used to remove the remaining water and streaks and spots – not a squeegee.

Cleaning agents which have been found to be compatible with standard uncoated Perma-Clear sheet under laboratory conditions:

Aqueous Solutions of Soaps and Detergents
• Windex
• Mr. Clean
• Top Job
• Fantastik
• Joy
• Formula 409

Organic Solvents
• Aliphatic Hydrocarbons
• Naphtha (VM&P Grade)
• Neleco-Placer
• Hexcel, F.O. 554
• Kerosene
• Turco 5042

Alcohols
• Methanol
• Isopropyl

Cautions
• Do not use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners. Never scrape with razor blades or other sharp instruments
• Benzene, leaded gasoline, acetone or carbon tetrachloride should never be used.
• Do not clean in hot sun or elevated temperatures.

IMPORTANT: If a material is found to be incompatible in a short-term test, it will usually be found incompatible in the field. The converse, however, is not always true. Favorable performance is no guarantee that actual end-use conditions have been duplicated. Therefore, these results should be used as a guide only and it is recommended that the products be tested under actual end-use conditions by the user.

Fresh Paint Splashes, Grease and Glazing
Before drying, these conditions can be easily remedied by rubbing lightly with a good grade of VM&P naphtha, isopropyl alcohol, or butyl cellosolve. Afterwards, a warm final wash should be made using a mild soap or detergent solution and thorough rinsing with clean water.

Label and Sticker Removal
The use of kerosene or VM&P naphtha is generally effective in removing labels and stickers. A warm wash and rinse should always follow the use of these products.

In cases where the sticker material, such as vinyl, does not allow the penetration of solvent, the application of heat (a hair dryer, for example) will soften the adhesive and promote removal.

Caution: Excessive heat can cause surface damage.

Scratch Removal
Hairline scratches and minor abrasions can be removed or minimized by using a mild automobile polish. There are a number of such products on the market. Two such products that tend to polish and fill scratches are: Johnson Paste Wax and Mirror Glaze plastic polish (M.G.M. 10), Mirror Bright Polish Co., Pasadena, CA. Prior to general use, it is suggested that a sample of the specific sheet be tested with the polish selected.
